The 290,000-acre Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois is the largest single expanse of mature forest in Illinois. Mature forests provide one of the best means on Earth for capturing and storing carbon dioxide. Learn how you can help to make this unique public land in Illinois part of the US National Park system!

This presentation will also highlight the beauty and recreational opportunities found in one of the state’s most biologically diverse regions.
