For many people the holidays are a time of moral self-reflection. In addition to being a celebration of Christmas, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is a profound meditation that challenges us to think about duty to others, personal happiness and moral transformation. In this presentation we use role play, film, PowerPoint and discussion to examine Scrooge’s change from closed-hearted miser to open-hearted philanthropist. Q&A follows the presentation. The presentation is preceded by Victorian seasonal music from the Evergreen Collective, a multi-instrument chamber ensemble.

This presentation will be given by retired Ethics and Literature Professors Ted Hazelgrove and James Gould.
