Alebrijes are colorful Mexican folk art statues of fantastical creatures. Let's explore this art form and make an alebrije of our own. Registration required.

**NOTE:  Please register separately for each child planning to attend this program.**

What is brightly colored, has lots of patterns, and is part dog, butterfly, and scorpion?  An alebrije, of course! Let's explore these fantastical Mexican folk art creations and create a Shrinky Dink version of our own.

This program has supplies to be picked up at the KidSpace Youth Reference desk at the Main Branch, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.  Program supplies will be ready for pick up between Monday, September 12 through Sunday, September, 18th. **Kit is a paper packet.**  All registered participants will receive an email with the Zoom login prior to the program date.  If you would like to pick up the supplies at the Main Library Drive-Up Window instead of inside the library at the Youth Desk, please call the desk at 847-429-4685 at least one hour before arriving at the library.

Imagine an Alebrije

Circular frame tracing page (with 2 circle frames)

Two-page GIANT alebrije tracing page

1 half sheet of Shrinky Dink Paper

Program Supplies to gather from home:

Scissors

Colored pencils or SHARPIE/permanent markers

SHARPENED pencil

Pink eraser (either separate or a clean one on the end of a pencil)

Additional supplies for ADULT to bake Shrinky Dink later- see instruction sheet. 

Thin tip black permanent marker (optional)

If you are unable to attend the event, please cancel your registration so a student on the waitlist can join the event.  We will be taking attendance at the programs and staff members reserve the right to move a registrant to the waitlist if they are found to be consistently absent from registered programs.
