Celebrate spirit of World Social Justice Day w/Dr. Eve L. Ewing, award-winning author, poet, & asst. professor at the University of Chicago, as she shares perspectives on her work and world in 2021.
As a sociologist of education, Ewing's research focuses on racism, social inequality, and urban policy, and the impact of these forces on American public schools and the lives of young people. Chicago Tribune has described her as "A truly rare cultural phenomenon: An artist who not only holds up a mirror to society, but makes herself a catalyst to change it."
This year, both Ewing and Moore have been awarded the prestigious USA Fellowship, which is offered annually to a select group of artists and creatives from across the country. Unites States Artists is a Chicago-based organization whose initiatives focus on supporting artists and their creative contributions to society and the world. Past recipients include author Edwidge Danticat and Chicana feminist essayist Cherríe Moraga.
