Join us as we gently dust the books of our extensive Genealogy Department! Please meet us near the 2nd floor Genealogy Department.

Did you know that Gail Borden Public Library District has over 4,400 genealogy books in our extensive genealogy department? 

What is genealogy?
Genealogy is the study of families, family history, and the tracing of lineages.
Our collection concentrates on family history within Elgin and Kane County, Illinois, but also contains materials relating to twenty-five other states, mostly east of the Mississippi River, and five European countries!

Genealogy books tend to be antiques, which means that they are old and delicate. Over time, they also get quite dusty. That's where you come in! We need volunteers with gentle, special attention to detail to help keep our collection clean.

We will start at the top of the shelves and work our way down, dusting the books and the shelves around them. 

Please meet us in near the 2nd floor Genealogy Department at the start of the session.
