Since 2004, readers of the Daily Herald newspaper have enjoyed "Words on Birds" by Jeff Reiter, a column about birds, birding and birders. A central theme is that birding is a fun and accessible lifetime hobby that’s also good for our mental health. This presentation, supported by colorful slides, will include stories about the backyard and "everyday" birds plus tales of rare bird stakeouts and cross-country adventures. Audience members, especially those new to the hobby, will go away with fresh insights about birding, along with encouragement to enjoy birds and nature on their own terms, at their own pace.
