Learn about the seven principles and symbols of Kwanzaa in both English and Kiswahili, and discover how the holiday is rooted in African culture. Elizabeth will also share how Christmas is celebrated in Africa and compare it with other global celebrations such as Diwali and Hanukkah. With music, drumming, poetry, pictures, and props, this interactive program offers a vibrant and memorable way to explore winter holiday traditions.

Elizabeth Kahura, a Kenyan native in the United States since 1995, serves as a cultural ambassador for African knowledge. Over two decades, her African Safari Program has engaged more than 20,000 audience members. As a storyteller, musician, and teacher, Elizabeth educates and entertains audiences through folklore, music, language, and creative arts.

Program is provided in partnership with other area libraries.
